Noted Cross Creek artist and former Alachua County Commissioner Kate Barnes has created the poster image for the 46th annual Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival. The poster image—titled “Spring Morning, Cross Creek”—portrays the pink light of dawn reflecting on the creek as a man and woman fish amid a watery landscape laced with cypress trees. Following Anat Cohen’s jazz concert in the Fine Arts Hall on Saturday, March 28, 2015, Santa Fe College will officially announce its new Lennie Kesl People’s Choice Award that will be presented to one of the artists at the SF College Spring Arts Festival. The award is named for Visual Arts Professor Lennie Kesl, who taught at the college for many years before he died in 2012. Read more here.
Two jazz acts—the David Jones Jazztet and Cuban pianist Chuchito Valdés—will spice up the Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, in downtown Gainesville’s historic district. Both performances will take place on the festival’s Main Stage, which has been moved this year to the grounds of the Thomas Center, 302 NE Sixth Avenue, Gainesville. Read more here.
Volunteers who work six hours or more may receive a free festival volunteer T-shirt and are eligible for discounts on other souvenir items. The festival is a wonderful way to lend a hand to our community.
